It’s with much-awaited enthusiasm and excitement that we’re announcing our new team name. We are the Black Bears!
We’d like to thank Adam Feldman of Northfield for suggesting the new name and an honorary mention goes to Jason Gerrish who recommended “The Ice Bears.” We believe the strong Vermont ties to the animal’s natural habitat make the name relatable to our youth hockey players. It’s a strong animal with keen senses (did you know that Black Bears’ sense of smell is 7 times more sensitive than dogs?) and while the real animal may hibernate in the winter, that’s when our CVYH Black Bears gear up for the rink!
Black Bear apparel will be available closer to the start of the season. Show your support on social media by using the hashtag #VTBlackBears
It’s with great enthusiasm and excitement that the Barre Youth Sports Hockey (Blades and Black Hawks), Central Vermont Skating Association (Capitals), Harwood Youth Hockey Association (Highlanders), and Northfield Amateur Hockey Association (North Stars and Blizzard) announce their merger to form the Central Vermont Youth Hockey beginning with the 2022-23 season!
We believe the unification of our four clubs’ resources will allow us to grow the game of hockey in Central Vermont. Together, we can improve the development experience and increase the opportunities available to players while keeping youth hockey affordable, and inclusive in our communities.
As we work through this adjustment, you will undoubtedly have a lot of questions and we will work diligently to provide answers as we have them. We thank you in advance for your assured support and patience while we’re creating and organizing all of the opportunities that the CVYH will offer our youth athletes. One of the first steps in setting up our aligned season is getting registration underway! There is a lot of information housed in the registration itself, but a few items to highlight:
